The Eyewear Designer will focus on product design, developing products from concept stage on, with responsibility for research, drawings, fit, material and prototype review.  

 

The role will report directly to the Design Studio Manager. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualize new product and optimize existing product for Sun and Optical lines 
  • Advocate for product design from early stage concept illustration to sample and production; maintaining high level, daily communication with overseas manufacturers throughout the process
  • Represent KREWE brand vision, incorporating market needs, industry standards, legal compliance, business objectives into all work 
  • Work directly with Studio Design Manager to receive and review T&A (time and action) calendar for product development
  • Manage design schedule, reporting status daily/weekly against progress to Studio Design Manager
  • Conduct research on frame construction, materials, market regulations/needs to deliver and incorporate new designs, fits in the collection 
  • Illustrate and recommend new silhouettes based on market/trend research, sales data in partnership with Studio Design Manager and Creative Director
  • Deliver and revise technical drawings (CADs), ensuring specifications are met/accurate, highlighting  variances, changes required 
  • Support build of seasonal tech packs with Studio Design Manager 
  • Advanced prep relevant samples and materials for fit presentations and Design meetings 
  • Shepherd the CAD revisions to approval by Creative Director in accordance with the T&A dates
  • Spearhead and deliver mock ups for non-frame product, including packaging, in line with Design vision and business needs
  • Audit and maintain Design library in studio and online (CADs) 
  • Aid in ad-hoc projects requested by Studio Design Manager and Creative Director 


 

Value & Skill Profile:

  • Proven eyewear product design experience
  • Ability to execute at a high level with mastery of on-time deliverable
  • Strong and concise oral, written, and decision-making abilities; superior follow through ability
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills 
  • Organized and self-sufficient at managing and prioritizing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience working with a team in a fast-paced setting
  • An independent, proactive drive to quickly and efficiently complete tasks and project
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with and knowledge of rapid prototyping
  • 2+ years of experience in related role desired
