The Controller plays a key financial leadership ensuring that all transactions are properly recorded in KREWE’s book of records and driving all internal controls for Company processes. They are responsible for ensuring that all expenditures and disbursements are in accordance with intent of management and that the Company is following various tax and regulatory requirements. The Controller has significant impact on the information cadence of the organization and plays a critical role to ensure that record keeping is accurate, providing the raw material for the Company’s decision making process. This leader should be process driven and strive to implement procedures that makes these company-wide processes efficient.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full cycle the month and quarter-end financial statement close process of all functions, including approval and posting of journal entries and review of reconciliations ensuring proper accuracy
  • Leads the daily accounting processes and provides guidance and oversight to the accounting team 
  • Owns the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring a regular and well-managed monthly accounting close process, including the development of a standard monthly accrual list and completion of all major account reconciliations
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and compliance
  • Precise accounting with clear separation between legal entities; responsible for booking transactions such as leases based on sound executed documentation.  
  • Exercises fiduciary responsibility by ensuring that all transactions booked, and payments made are supported by appropriate documentation
  • Holds leaders and team accountable for appropriate practices e.g. requiring credit card support in the name of meeting monthly close timeline.
  • Work in partnership with Manufacturing team to ensure control over inventory and improve cost accounting processes
  • Partner with CFO to improve accounting processes, including internal control systems
  • Build and manage relationships with various business leaders throughout the Company, and work with them to prioritize business requirements/projects as they relate to Inventory
  • Support with various related cross functional projects across the company, as the business scales and as needed
  • Exercises their influence to drive efficiencies and control into Company processes.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field 
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including cost accounting 
  • Experience with multi-entity organization 
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships, facilitating processes and accountability 
  • Demonstrated success in managing a team and a track record of developing and mentoring others 
  • Experience working with a retail, consumer goods, or related business with understanding of inventory management highly preferred
  • Experience working with NetSuite 
  • Must possess an ability and a desire to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment; solution-oriented 
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize critical needs effectively; hands on 
  • Able to communicate effectively with various levels in the organization and with external parties with ability to influence and collaborate
